Case Overview

Dr. Wang Yuanjing recently managed a complex anterior restoration case involving both endodontic therapy and implantology. The patient presented with a failing dental restoration and significant structural issues in the upper front teeth.

Clinical Challenge & Procedure

Upon examination, the patient’s existing prosthetic crown was found to be ill-fitting, leading to secondary complications. Specifically:

• Tooth #11: Suffered from severe dental caries (cavities) and irreversible pulpitis (inflammation of the tooth nerve).

• Tooth #21: Presented with a vertical root fracture, rendering it unrestorable.

The Treatment Plan:
Dr. Wang devised a dual-approach strategy to save the viable tooth and replace the lost one:

1. Endodontic Therapy: Root canal treatment was performed on Tooth #11 to eliminate infection and preserve the natural root structure.

2. Extraction & Implantation: The fractured Tooth #21 was extracted. Immediately following the extraction, a dental implant was placed into the fresh socket.

3. Immediate Restoration: To ensure the patient left with a functional and aesthetic smile, a temporary crown was fitted immediately after the surgery.

Outcome:
Post-operative follow-ups indicate excellent healing. The patient has recovered well, with the implant integrating successfully and the root canal-treated tooth remaining stable.
